RELAXATION & MEDITATION PRACTICES
Meditation has been practiced for over 3,000 year s for the purpose of training and calming the mind, but also to awaken to an inner liberation and freedom from the suffering we create in our minds. By developing awareness beyond the chatty mind of this unconditioned consciousness, states such as unconditional love, wisdom, deep insight and joy can be experienced. As you continue to practice meditation and enlarge your awareness, it becomes easier on an ongoing basis to observe the stream of thoughts and feelings that make up your experience. You are less prone to get “stuck” or lost in them. To practice meditation is to cultivate greater self-integration and wholeness.
Meditation has repeatedly been found to reduce chronic anxiety and worry. Some long-range benefits include:
- sharpened alertness
- increased energy level and productivity
- decreased self-criticism
- increased objectivity (the capacity to view situations non-judgementally)
